“Philanthropy is commendable, but it must
not cause the philanthropist to overlook the
circumstances of economic injustice which
make philanthropy necessary.”
This quote from Martin Luther King Junior captures the very essence of what Fix It With Five is all about. Our goal is to create systemic change by working with creative local nonprofit organizations through the contribution of a $10,000 grant. This grant is made up of around $5 from each undergraduate at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont.
What can you do with $5?
“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.” –Marian Wright Edelman
A donation of $5, is a small difference, but when you add five dollars from each student’s tuition you have $10,000.
What can you do with $10,000?
